How to Repair a Car Exhaust Pipe

You love your car. But, after a few years, you’ll need to spend some money on repairs. A recent study found that Americans spend an average of $397 a year on maintenance and repairs for their cars!

You’ve noticed that you need to fill up the tank more often and you can smell something burning when you’re driving. Could you have a leak in your exhaust system?

We put together a quick guide to help you repair a leaky car exhaust pipe. Keep reading to learn everything you need to know to avoid ending up in the repair shop.

Gather Your Tools

Before starting your repairs, make sure you have all the tools ready. You’ll need a new exhaust pipe to swap out for the old one. You can find exhaust pipes for sale online at a great price.

Lift the Car

You need to have comfortable access to the undercarriage of the car for this repair. Lift the car off the ground far enough that you can slide underneath it without touching the car.

Make sure to place your jacks in secure spots because you don’t want the car to shift or a jack to fail while you’re underneath the car. It’s also smart to have someone else nearby anytime you do work underneath a car.

Find the Leak

If you can’t see the damaged spot, turn the car on and let the sound lead you to the leak. Most of the time, the damage faces the asphalt, so you should see it when you’re under the car.

Repair the Hole

Use steel wool to fill the gap, then secure that with exhaust pipe repair tape. If you want, you can also use an aluminum soda can to cover the repair tape. Then, apply the repair clamps to hold everything tight.

Seal the Repair

Let the car idle for a little while so the exhaust system warms up. The heat activates the tape, which seals the damage underneath. This might not seem like an important step, but you don’t want to skip it because it may render the whole process ineffective.

Test Drive

The final step in repairing an exhaust pipe is to take the car for a test drive to see if the repair holds and leak symptoms go away. If you notice that something still isn’t right, it’s time to start back at step one to take another look.

Should a Mechanic Handle a Car Exhaust Pipe?

If you take your car to a mechanic, the average price to repair your exhaust system is about $200. For most people, it’s much more convenient financially to just do the work yourself.

Even if you’re not an expert with cars, you can repair an exhaust pipe on your own. Those who have some experience under the hood prefer to fix these little issues themselves.

Don’t Let Car Repairs Exhaust You

No one wants to repair their car when it’s broken. But, if you plan well, it doesn’t have to derail your life.

Keep these tips in mind so you can repair exhaust problems right away. The longer you let car problems go, the more expensive the repairs get.

We hope you found this article informative and that you learned all about fixing a leaky car exhaust pipe. If you have any questions about this article or our auto magazine, contact us today!

Ceramic Coating: 11 Health And Safety Precautions You Should Follow

If you’re looking for the best way to protect your vehicle, ceramic coating is the answer. It offers many advantages that are not available on any other surface treatment. One of these is that it’s tough and durable, and easy to clean with soap and water alone. But before you apply a ceramic coating on your vehicle for maximum protection, there are 11 health and safety precautions you should follow!

1.   Protect Your Car From Sunlight

If you want to apply a ceramic coating NJ on your vehicle, make sure it’s protected from the sun before beginning-UV rays always cause damage to paint, which will ruin the finish of your ceramic coating. Washing and waxing are never enough protection for ceramics, so if your car is outside, make sure it has a cover on it.

2.   lean Your Vehicle Properly

The first step to applying a ceramic coating is to clean your vehicle properly-this means washing and drying it thoroughly. The cleaner your car, the better the protection of your ceramic coating will be. If dirt, sap, swirl marks, or undercoating are present on your vehicle, the ceramic coating won’t adhere correctly to your car, and it’ll peel off.

3.   Use The Right Products

The right products are essential to applying a ceramic coating NJ. You need to use a high-quality clay bar or paint cleaner, which you should have been using already for prepping your car anyway. If you don’t, it’ll ruin your finish the same as dirt and other contaminants.

4.   Ceramic coatings form a tight bond.

If you’re the owner of a high-end vehicle, then it has an expensive clear coat on top of your paint. The only way to be sure this doesn’t get ruined is by using a ceramic coating: these products form a microscopic layer on top of your clear coat and prevent anything from penetrating through.

5.   A Two-Step Process

The best recommendation for applying a ceramic coating on your vehicle is to use a product that’s two steps, meaning it has a polish followed by a sealant. If you’re not sure which one to get, talk with the expert from ceramic coating NJ for more information. A paint protection film is also an option if you want to protect your paint job; it’s clear and can be applied on top of your paint.

6.   Give It Time To Dry

Give the coating at least an hour to dry before you drive your car, this will help prevent any accidents. Not only that, but it’ll also enhance the protection of your ceramic coating by keeping dirt and other contaminants off until they can be safely washed or removed.

7.   Don’t Use Wax

Never use a wax-based product along with your ceramic coating. Wax is the opposite of a protective sealant and will ruin your finish instead of helping it. You should still protect your vehicle from any UV radiation, but if you have a ceramics coat installed on your car, all you need to do is wash and dry it regularly.

8.   Don’t Use Cleaners That Contain Ammonia.

Any cleaner containing ammonia should never be used on your car after you have a ceramic coating installed, as this will ruin your vehicle’s finish. If you are thinking of getting a ceramic coating for your car, make sure it’s protected from dirt and other contaminants, but use a soap and water solution instead of any cleaner.

9.   Avoid Using Acidic Cleaners

Acidic cleaners can cause corrosion to your car’s paint, which will damage the ceramics coat on top of it by causing tiny bubbles that will form underneath the surface. If you’re looking for a product to use for your ceramic coating, steer clear of any acidic cleaners.

10. Get It Professionally Installed By A Specialist

Although it’s not extremely difficult to apply a ceramic coating yourself, your best bet is to contact the experts. They know precisely what they’re doing when it comes to using these types of products and will give you the best results possible-this will help ensure that your ceramic coat lasts as long as possible!

11. The Advantages Are Unmatched

The benefits of a ceramic coating are unmatched by any other protective surface treatment, it makes your car super easy to clean, but it can also withstand anything. The best part is that if you get the correct type of coatings applied to your vehicle, it’ll last for years without peeling or losing its effectiveness.

Conclusion

A ceramic coating can provide your car with years of protection and make it easier to keep clean. With these 11 health and safety precautions in mind, you’ll be ready to get the best type of coatings applied for maximum durability! The experts at Ceramic Coating NJ can help you get precisely what you need for the ultimate protection! The best part is that your new ceramic coating will make it easier to clean and maintain your vehicle for years on end!

Volkswagen Facing Second Dieselgate Scandal after Fitting Cheating Devices into Vehicles

After being thrust into the spotlight courtesy of the Dieselgate scandal in 2015, German automaker Volkswagen is currently facing a class-action lawsuit filed by more or less 91,000 British car owners at a High Court. Although the trial is not scheduled until 2023, VW might find itself in the middle of another battle as a second class-action lawsuit against the company is being organised by several lawyers on behalf of over 30,000 car owners. According to the group, this number could increase to around more than 80,000 drivers after the processing of paperwork is completed.

The lawsuit has been raised after allegations that VW intentionally fitted defeat devices into their diesel vehicles – such as the Skoda Superb, Audi A3, and the Golf – that were sold between the years 2008 and 2015. It’s the same issue that the automaker faced in the 2015 emissions scandal when the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency discovered that the devices were installed to manipulate emissions levels during lab tests.

VW’s cheat software reduced NOx or nitrogen dioxide levels artificially so every time the vehicles were tested in the lab, emissions did not exceed legal limits. However, when driven in real-world conditions, the NOx emissions were way beyond the safe levels.

Like other car manufacturers that have been implicated in the scandal, VW denies the allegations and firmly believes that car owners do not have a valid claim. It should be worth remembering, however, that back in September 2015, Volkswagen admitted that they installed the so-called cheat devices.

Dieselgate damage

The diesel emission scandal drastically shook things up for VW and the Volkswagen group. Fines, payouts, and litigation expenses have cost the company billions. In addition, the automaker also compensated its dealers for their losses, the cost of which has reached more or less $1.2 billion.

VW employees were also affected by the scandal as the company overhauled its operations in 2016, resulting in redundancies  worldwide by more or less 30,000.

The emissions scandal has also caused the company’s reputation to plummet. Although VW has slowly worked its way back up over the past six years, there is still a lot of work to be done as many consumers are not yet as confident in the brand as they used to be. In fact, VW’s annual rankings in the Global 500 2020 annual report placed the automaker in 25th. Prior to Dieselgate, Volkswagen was ranked 18th among the most valuable brands worldwide.

As ruled by the courts, Volkswagen has also had to recall its affected diesel vehicles so these could be upgraded and fitted with better and safer engines.

But one of the most significant damages that the scandal brought on VW is the implication of its executives in the scandal. The first one to bow out was the company’s CEO, Martin Winterkorn, whose abrupt resignation five years ago made the headlines. A date has yet to be set for his trial on allegations of fraud and market manipulation.

Last year, 2020, eight other VW employees were charged with fraud, false certification, and violation of the law against unfair competition in connection to the emissions scandal. The employees are accused of encouraging the installation of the defeat devices on VW’s diesel vehicles despite the knowledge that the devices were illegal software. Six of the company’s managers have also been charged with various violations related to the scandal.

In addition, Rupert Stadler, a VW executive, is currently on trial for Dieselgate-related charges. His trial is expected to conclude in 2022.

Other Dieselgate manufacturers

Aside from Volkswagen and its VW group subsidiaries Audi, Seat, Skoda, and Porsche, other automakers have also been accused of installing cheat software in their diesel vehicles. Mercedes Benz emissions were also alleged to have been manipulated, as well the emissions tests of BMW, Ford, Vauxhall, Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Fiat, Renault, Suzuki, Jeep, Peugeot, and Nissan.

Each of these car brands has had to – and continue to – deal with fines, payouts, class-action lawsuits, and vehicle recalls.

NOx dangers

Nitrogen oxides or NOx, the pollutant emitted by vehicles, are a danger to the environment and human health. Emissions that are 40 times above the legal level contribute to the formation of acid rain and fog, and can even form ground level ozone, which can lead to global warming and climate change.

For humans, exposure to both low and dangerous levels of nitrogen oxides can lead to asthma or aggravation of asthma, emphysema, bronchitis, and other respiratory illnesses. It can even cause mental health-related problems such as anxiety and depression.

What you can do

If you want to contribute to the campaign of lowering and eventually eliminating NOx emissions, you can start by checking if your vehicle is fitted by a defeat device. Manufacturer websites allow you to verify if your automobile is on the list. Mercedes-Benz, for example, has a page that’s dedicated to Mercedes diesel claims, where car owners can check the list of affected vehicles.

If your car is affected, get in touch with a team of professional and expert solicitors or emissions experts. Work with the energetic and experienced team of Emissions.co.uk if you want higher chances of a successful claim.

What are the Pros and Cons of Using a main dealer for repairs and services?

At one time most people especially owners of more high-end motors would always go to the main dealership when their car needed a repair or servicing. There were several very valid reasons for making this choice, such as access to specialist parts and the need to keep that all-important service history up to date.

However, more recently there are many more independent garages available that can provide the same level of service often at a lower price. Under European Legislation introduced in 2003 Independent garages can now service and repair cars without adversely affecting a manufacturers warranty. This legislation was brought in to promote competition and to prevent car manufacturers from stopping independent garages servicing and repairing cars as long as they adhere to a car makers regulations.

This now gives the car owner a much wider choice but are you getting a better service. So, we thought we would have a look at the pros and cons of using the main dealership when you need work doing on your car.

Pros

Probably the biggest reason for using the dealership is that you are 100% certain that your warranty will be preserved. As you know the dealership will be using authentic parts, which along with approved work and certification gives you a certain peace of mind.

Another advantage of a main dealership is that having work completed there will often protect the residual value of your car. This is especially true if you regularly change your car at that dealership as they will usually offer you a better price when you trade in your old car with them.

When you have work done on your car by the main dealership every component is certified by the manufacturer. They also have the most up to date diagnostic tools and equipment.

All the technicians at a dealership will have specialist knowledge of all the models in the manufacturer’s range. This means that the person servicing or repairing your car will theoretically have all the relevant skills and knowledge to guarantee a quality service.

The reasons listed above are some of the main benefits of using the main dealership now let’s have a look at some of the disadvantages.

Cons

Probably the biggest downside of main dealerships is that they are more expensive than an independent. This is because they will almost always have much larger overheads as a result of high-end facilities, larger staff numbers and hidden charges.

Before having work done why not ask for a breakdown of charges to help you assess whether you feel it is value for money.

Another disadvantage is that you don’t always get the same level of personal service at a dealership. This is usually as a result of the amount of work they take on meaning that staff often become disconnected from their client base.

In conclusion, there is no right and wrong decision, if you are looking for say an Audi R8 clutch replacement make sure you do your research to make sure you get the best deal. Whether that is with a main dealership or an independent because there are advantages and disadvantages of both.

If you find yourself always at the dealer for repairs and need to decide if you should continue to repair or junk your used car, please see the resource below.

Common Mistakes People Make After a Bicycle Accident

According to bicycle accident attorneys, in a perfect world all cyclists will have a full understanding of what they should do after an accident. With this being said however, the shock of the situation and the potential injuries afterwards, often mean that cyclists will have a tough time making sure that they follow the steps which they should do. This even includes minor sideswipe accidents. To help you get prepared for this kind of event, and of course we hope that it doesn’t happen, it is important to understand the common mistakes which are made.

Not Leaving a Police Report

Unfortunately it is quite common for the police to be more interested in the driver of a motor vehicle rather than the injured cyclist. This is not so much a mistake on the part of the cyclist, as much as it is the fault of the police. It is however important that a police statement is made by the cyclist so that it is registered.

Failure to Preserve Evidence

Whilst it may not seem like much, the clothes and even the bicycle could prove to play a significant role in attributing blame after these kinds of accidents. It is also worth keeping the equipment to one side for future use, rather than washing or throwing away the clothes which were being worn during the accident.

Negotiating With The Driver

Most drivers who know that this was their fault will try and negotiate with the cyclist so that they do not push this case forward any further. This is not a good way to negotiate however and there are a couple of reasons why. Firstly it may be that the driver changes their mind later on, and you may have not followed steps at the time which will help lawyers as a result of a deal. Secondly you honestly have no ideas of the extent of your injuries or the status of the driver until some days after the event.

Negotiating With Insurance Companies

You may find that the insurance company of the guilty party seeks to get in touch with you and offers some level of compensation. What they are trying to do here is get ahead of the curve and pay out far less than they will have to if the case moves forward to court. If you receive a call from the insurance company then simply say that you will be in touch with them in due course.

Not Calling a Lawyer

It is always worth getting legal advice after this kind of event, as you need to know what your rights are. Even if you push the case forward there is no obligation to call a lawyer, but it will always make the best sense. Representing yourself can be tough and the best option is to get in touch with a great personal injury lawyer which specializes in bicycle accidents. .

Try to avoid these mistakes if this kind of event should ever take place.

5 Of the Best Small Cars on the market in 2021

The small car market is, without doubt, an extremely competitive one with manufacturers continually looking to offer better value for money. This is not surprising as the cost of a deposit on a brand new small car is probably less than a Lamborghini clutch replacement. This is obviously excellent news for customers who are in the market for a small motor because there are now a plethora of models to pick from. Not only are there lots of choices but the standards are unbelievably high.

So, with all these different models available from a variety of manufacturers, customers could be excused for not knowing where to start looking. So, what sort of things should you expect from a small car and which of those things are most important to you. Are you interested in boot space, lots of extras or a practical spacious interior and a competitive price? To help we thought we’d have at the pros and cons of five of the best models available to consumers.

Toyota Yaris Hybrid

Probably at the slightly more expensive end, however, the Yaris hybrid has almost double the fuel economy of a conventionally powered small hatchback at almost 80mpg. It is also very reliable and will undoubtedly hold its value very well. On the downside, it is slightly cramped in the rear and a relatively firm ride. Also, the infotainment system that comes with this model is probably of a lower standard than other cars in this range.

Hyundai i10

With compact dimensions and excellent visibility, the Hyundai i10 is the perfect choice for city driving. However, the 1.2-litre petrol engine means it is not out of its depth on the motorway. The ride is comfortable irrespective of the speed you are travelling at and compares favourably with many larger models. The i10 has five seats and decent rear space and comes with lots of safety features as standard. The cons are, it is quite pricey to buy outright at around £12,500 and the non-turbocharged engines can be a bit lacklustre.

Ford Fiesta

It seems like the Fiesta has been around forever and like a fine wine, it just keeps getting better. The Fiesta offers owners a brilliant drive with great fuel economy and CO2 emissions mainly due to the punchy Ecoboost engines. Another obvious benefit is the good old Ford reliability which now comes in a stylish package. It could be argued that some of its rivals offer slightly better value than the Fiesta and that its practicality is decent but not class-leading. However, the Fiesta is still right up there when it comes to small cars.

Peugeot 208

If you are looking for a small car that handles sharply then there are undoubtedly better and cheaper alternatives like the Fiesta and Seat Ibiza. However, if you like your interiors plush and spacious and your ride a comfortable one then the 208 could be the car for you. The punchy and frugal 1.2 Puretech 100 engine packs plenty of power meaning you can cruise quietly and efficiently. Things that go against it are it’s relatively expensive to buy, has a so-so infotainment system and probably isn’t as much fun to drive as other makes.

Dacia Sandero

The Sandero is comfortable, nice to drive and has lots of space meaning it compares favourably with some of its much more expensive rivals. The Dacia is the cheapest new small car available in the UK coming in a few thousand pounds less than some of its competitors. However, there have to be compromises and these come in the form of lower safety ratings, entry-level basic trims and the fact they are probably not as quiet as other small cars on the market.

There are of course lots of other options available to you, but we feel the ones listed above are worthy of consideration.

Conclusion

There are several factors to consider when selecting a bike horn, but a high-quality horn will fulfil all of your requirements. Furthermore, the bike horn serves as a lock signal as well as a warning sound while entering the vehicle without authority. However, keep in mind that a good horn can satisfy the most (though not all) of these characteristics. Roots bike horns are long-lasting and well-priced.

Considerations When Ordering Forklift Singapore Vehicles

Obtaining forklift Singapore vehicles for your stockroom is an exceptionally vital part of having your venture up and running. However, you can’t just invest in any arbitrary forklift. There are several forklift variations you need to take into consideration. Don’t stress, though; we can guide you in the correct instructions. This guide will certainly break down helpful suggestions for choosing the ideal forklift for your work area. That way, you’ll understand you and also your crew get on the pathway to triumph with the right equipment at hand.

Why take into consideration numerous factors when buying forklifts?

Ending up being aware of these pointers for choosing the appropriate forklift will permit you to execute day-to-day operations efficiently as well as, most significantly, safely. Suffice it to say, effectiveness and security are 2 of the most crucial characteristics of any type of positive work setting. As soon as you have the best equipment, all you require is the ideal staff to go through OSHA-certified training, and then you’re off to the races.

Will You Be Utilizing Your Forklift Outdoors, Indoors Or Both?

The type of forklift that you choose will certainly be figured out by the surface area of your work setting. As an example, if your work setting is inside as well as perfectly level and dry, then a reach forklift will certainly be excellent for you.

Criterion forklifts can be used both inside and also outside and on even or unequal surface areas. An all surface sort of forklift, conversely, is much more fit for surface areas that are unstable and also need to be steered over.

Forklifts that are made for indoor usage don’t have tires with a tread design for maintaining grip during damp weather condition, so this is one thing that you ought to keep in mind when trying to find a forklift

If you plan on acquiring a forklift for interior use, think about the sort of fuel that it uses. Forklifts that use diesel and fuel engines release toxic fumes and are for that reason not suited for interior usage.

Rack Elevation

In a similar way, smaller sized warehouses often tend to have elevated racks in order to optimize space. Order pickers are ideal for this because some designs have optimal heights of over 25 feet. This enables the driver to effortlessly pick orders from higher shelves, as well as heavier materials that they can pile on the order picker’s forks. Pallet or “walkie” stackers are also perfect for getting pallets up on higher shelves. The walkie versions are hand operated, while there are additionally powered versions for convenience of use. Depending on your warehouse, there are versions that have different optimum elevations and also weights, straddling abilities for rising up near a pallet, or reach abilities to move the load away from the forklift.

Choose the Best Car Insurance Plan by Considering These Factors

An auto insurance policy is an important coverage you must consider when you purchase a vehicle. A good insurance plan helps you claim coverage when you will be involved in an accident. But, because there are many insurance plans available out there, you need to properly research your options to pick the right one. Your research should include comparing policies based on your requirements. Below are important factors you must think about when you buy an auto insurance policy:

The Reputation of the Insurance Provider

Before you buy a car insurance policy, ensure you get it from a reputable provider. You want to research the company’s reputation, especially in terms of paying out claims. You will easily know if there are complaints filed against them when you read reviews online. The last thing you worry about is dealing with a company that will refuse to pay claims while you are in a tough situation after an accident.

Available Coverage

The usefulness of your policy depends on the coverage it offers to you. You should check and compare the coverage a plan includes before you buy one. Keep in mind that coverage varies by provider and plan type. A comprehensive auto insurance policy offers coverage for the damage your car sustained, in addition to third-party liabilities. Also, a third-party policy covers just third-party liabilities.

Fine Print

Do not sign a policy document until you are sure of what it offers. Before you purchase a policy, take your time to read the fine print first. Some clauses in the contract may not be clear or even favorable to you. If you are not sure, ask a Miway insurance agent to help you understand those details.

Moreover, reading the fine print will help you understand the policy terms. Don’t just focus on the benefits of the policy but also on the conditions it doesn’t cover.

Riders

When you choose to purchase comprehensive auto insurance, you may want to extend the coverage of your policy with riders. Riders refer to add-on coverage you can add to your existing policy by paying extra premiums. Thus, before you purchase, check with your provider about auto insurance riders like personal accident coverage, on-road assistance, and others.

Claim Procedure

When it comes to auto insurance policies, the ease and efficiency of the claims process is an important consideration. So, ask your provider about it before you make a choice. Also, make sure to check the company’s claim settlement ratio.
